The naming format is: multi_0.sv, multi_1.sv, etc for multi-player and single_0.sv, single_1.sv, etc for single player. Seems hero editor is looking for a registry value for "Save Path" but the new blizzard installer doesn't install this value. Fix instructions are: 1. Open Regedit as admin. 2. In legacy Diablo II, I could do that by changing this registry property: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Blizzard Entertainment\Diablo II\NewSavePath I couldn't find any registry entry pointing to the Diablo II Resurrected save folder. Try looking for charactername.bak (or .bac?) files in your save folder and rename the extension .b2s (overriding the corrupted file). That did the trick, thanks a lot! I was afraid the backup would have been overwritten already because of my efforts trying to restore the char with hero editor but the oldest .bak file was the original one! mC0PN.
